While no free agent in the NBA can officially sign a contract until July 12, all signs point to Ben Wallace leaving Detroit. The Detroit Pistons worked hard to keep Wallace in the Motor City, but it looks like they fell short. The Pistons offered a four-year contract worth $50 million. However, Ben Wallace wants to leave for greener pastures. Evidently he believes that the Chicago Bulls are about to go on a run.
Wallace has told The Detroit News about an upcoming four-year deal he’s going to sign with the Chicago Bulls. The writing appears to be on the wall. Wallace said, “I appreciate everything Detroit did for me and my family. They gave me an opportunity to make a name for myself and we had an opportunity to win a championship together.â€
Despite the efforts of the Pistons and Joe Dumars to keep the team together, they have failed. Bulls fans are drunk with excitement. The arrival of Ben Wallace signifies a real shot at making waves in the NBA playoffs. Ben Wallace is no spring chicken. The Bulls are going to have a window of 2-4 years to get their championship. It appears they are going to make the necessary moves to get the job done. Some rumors have them trading away their recent number one selection in a package deal to get Kevin Garnett from Minnesota.
