Tony Parker Evades Surgery

It looks like Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs won’t have surgery on his broken right index finger. On Monday, Spurs doctors came to the conclusion that he just needs to wear a splint for the next month or so. The Spurs hope his finger gets better in time for open training camp, which is just 6 weeks away. Everyone seems pretty confident about the one-month timeline.

Since Parker broke his finger right before the World Championships, he’s been unable to play for France. He was actually left off the roster and that looks like a good move by France. Right now Parker is just passing time and getting ready for camp. He can’t do too much, but when that splint comes of, you can bet he’ll be ready to go. The worst-case scenario here is that this finger will become a recurring issue during this upcoming season.
