The first round pick this year for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Randy Foye, is all locked up. The guard from Villanova, who was picked seventh overall, and the Wolves agreed on a deal. Foye was technically a selection in the Portland Trail Blazers spot, but he was quickly dealt in a deal with Minnesota. The T-Wolves hope he can bring energy and talent to the team.
Kevin McHale, the T-Wolves VP of basketball operations, said, “We’re extremely excited to have Randy as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is an exciting player that we believe can help up immediately, and will be a key player for us for years to come.” That could be very true. Foye was the Big East Player of the Year for the 2005-06 season. He scored 20.5 points per game, including 5.8 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
This year’s NBA draft was somewhat lackluster, but there are some players who can grow to contribute to the NBA. Randy Foye looks to be one of those players. He knows what to do with the rock when he gets it. Foye was the eighth leading scorer in Villanova history. He was just shy of 2,000 points. Time will tell, but he could be a solid scorer in the NBA.
