NBA Finals Game One

Game one of the NBA finals was, in my opinion, boring and full of poor play. How do you shoot 70% in a quarter and go into half time down by 2? How do you lose a 10-12 point lead to a team that is shooting poorly? If this series is going to be like game one, I say no thanks. The Mavericks won the poorly played event 90-80 (170 total points). I could not decide if I should keep watching or go read my dictionary. In fact, if it were not for the fact that I had to write about the game, the dictionary would have won.

If you did not see the game and are about to jump on me, because you like defense, don’t. This game was not a defensive struggle. It was hoops at the playgrounds. Got the rock? Shoot it. Poor shot attempts were the order of the day. This game was lucky to get to 170 points. It could have been an 80-70 type affair. If you are a Mavs fan, the game is exciting, because they won. If you are a Heat fan, you are wondering how your team lost.

I expected much more from two top teams in the NBA in the finals. What I got was the summer league in Vegas. Vegas books should start a prop wager on if game two is going to be better or not. Speaking of game two, it is on Sunday at 9:00 PM EST. Right now, the Mavericks are a 4.5 point favorite and the under/over is down to 188.5. The under/over is a coin flip. If you play past performances, bet the under. However, what are the odds that game two will be a horrible?

On a side note, my pick on the prop bet—Shaq missing first free throw—came threw with flying colors. In fact, he missed his first 8 attempts. Thank you Shaq—money in the bank. Tomorrow I will look for some other prop bets and post what I find. If you are looking for a series bet, Dallas can be had at -280, which might not be bad since one game is in the bag. The Miami Heat are +230 now on the series. While I would like to see a little more since they are one game down, they do have three straight home games coming up. That could be a huge factor in this series if they can steal game two at Dallas on Sunday.
