Last season Andrew Bogut make appearances at the Center position in every single game for the Milwaukee Bucks. It was his rookie season and he showed promise. He ended up starting 77 games in 2005-06. Bogut finished the season with averages of 9.4 points per game and 7 rebounds per game. The Bucks had a good center and were excited about what 2006-07 could hold for Bogut’s development.

However, Andrew Bogut won’t be contributing to the team right away this season. He now has a torn ligament in his lower left leg. The injury happened this past Saturday. The word on the street in that Bogut will be missing about two months. That’s very bad news for the Bucks. Their season tips off on November 1st. Bogut could be gone for 20-30% of their season.

When Bogut comes back, how will he play? There will probably some hesitation on his part. It could take him another week or two of play to start getting in the grove. Exhibition has just started, so he’s going to be entering the season with basically no practice.

The injury happened in practice. The Bucks were holding an intra-squad scrimmage. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Bogut collided with Steve Blake (Guard) during this scrimmage. That’s when Bogut tore his lower left leg ligament.

So now the Milwaukee Bucks are in revision mode as they rework their plan for the season. Just how big of a loss Bogut is remains to be scene, but it could very well cost the Bucks precious games. That’s a luxury this team doesn’t have. Not too many, outside of Bucks fans, are projecting Milwaukee as a playoff team.

The Bucks were 40-42 last season and made the playoffs in the East as the #8 seed. They went out of the playoffs with a whimper. They appear to be right around the cusp of sneaking into the NBA playoffs again. However, the loss of Bogut for two months could prove disastrous for the Bucks.
