Miami Evens Series

Has anyone seen the Mavericks lately? I sure did not see them last night. I heard one analyst say the Mavericks were wearing “skirts” out there and I can’t disagree. The Mavericks were a total disgrace. This series is starting to remind me of the magical season for the Red Sox when they pulled off one of the greatest comebacks, against the Yankees no less, in sports history.

The Mavericks had their foot on the throats of the Heat. They had a huge fourth quarter lead and were about to go to a crushing 3-0 lead. Do you know how many teams have come back in the NBA Finals when down 0-3? Not a single one. That’s what the Mavericks had the opportunity to do and they blew it. This series really should have been over by now.

Last night the Miami Heat absolutely spanked the Mavericks 98-74 (another under game by the way). The 24 point loss could have been even higher. The Mavericks looked like they had somewhere else to be. Perhaps they left the BBQ on back in Dallas? For NBA fans, the collapse is great. Now the series is tied up and it’s getting really exciting.

Here’s the problem for Dallas. The Miami Heat have won both home games and they have one more left—game 5. If they keep winning at home, this series is going back to Dallas with the Heat up 3-2 and Dallas will be on the verge of elimination. Game 5 is on Sunday. It will tip off at 9:00 pm EST in Miami. The game is basically a pick, but the Heat are -1 right now. Sports bettors need to figure out what version of each team will show up.

On one hand, you have the Mavericks who looked pretty good through the first three games, but last night was a wake up call. Will they come back with a vengeance or go out with a whimper? On the other end you have a Heat team that looked like garbage in the first two games, decent in game three and outstanding in game four. So which team is going to show up? Have the Heat spent all their energy winning these past two games? Was Dallas simply resting up like they probably did in the Suns series?

Game four contained some playing changes. Those changes worked for the Heat, but they were disastrous for the Mavericks. Should we look for the Mavericks to get back to basics? After all, they did shut down Shaq in the first couple games of the series and they held Wade to minimal output.
