Yesterday the Dallas Mavericks took game two of the NBA Finals 99-85. While game two featured a little more scoring, it was still fairly sloppy. It looks like the Dallas Mavericks have figured out the Miami Heat. In both games, the Heat went through periods of complete meltdowns. Shaq has not been a factor and Dwyane Wade isn’t providing a huge spark as was expected.

Games 3 and 4 are Tuesday and Thursday at the Heat. Dallas has proven they can win on the road in this playoff season. Could we be looking at a possible sweep? If the Heat can’t get their act together it just may happen. The early sports betting line has the Heat at -4, but I don’t see any reason why someone should take them. They have failed to look like a playoff team for two straight games.

It’s possible that they will play better at home, like they did in the Pistons series, but the writing may already be on the wall. All signs point to the Mavericks winning their first NBA title in their first NBA Finals appearance. One thing that has killed the Heat is their shot selection. They have a tendency to fire up the three point shot too often and with minimal results. The box score will show that the Heat were 7-17 in that department, which is a respectable 41%. However, it won’t show the fact that a handful of those missed attempts were taken when better shots inside were available.

How does Shaq take only 5 shots all game and end up with 5 points? The Heat can start right here for reasons why they lost—and by 14. He’s the biggest guy on the floor, yet he only pulled down 6 rebounds all night. Either Shaq is washed up and needs to retire now or the Miami Heat are guilty of not using the potential of one of their best players. With performances like this, there is no series—it’s all Mavericks. Pat Riley can huff and puff all he wants, but if Shaq is only going to take 5 shots, the Heat minds well start playing like it’s 2007, because this season is over.
