According to Billy King, 76ers president & GM, the rumor that had Allen Iverson going to the Denver Nuggets is false. However, let’s back up just a moment here. Iverson going to the Nuggets makes a lot of sense. The “rumor” said that the big boys in 76ers management vetoed the deal. Apparently the 76ers would get Kenyon Martin in return for Iverson.

Philadelphia knows they need to move Iverson, but it’s hard to do. According to columnist Thomas George, this deal almost went down. He said, “The Nuggets have already offered Martin to the Sixers as part of a package to secure Iverson (the Philadelphia coaching staff said yes, but their chairman, Ed Snider, said no, concerned about Martin’s previously bum left knee).”

King “vehemently” denied the comments. The 76ers don’t know if they are coming and going. Now they are talking about keeping Iverson. Philadelphia fans have to be on edge wondering just what the front office is doing. Stay tuned, this story might be just the tip of the iceberg.
