The Dallas Mavericks and Indiana Pacers have agreed to a trade. The Dallas Mavericks are going to receive point guard Anthony Johnson. In return, the Indiana Pacers will receive point guard Darrell Armstrong, power forward Josh Powell and Rawle Marshall. These two teams are getting used to working with one another. It’s the second deal between the two this month.

Could you walk away from $23 million? That’s exactly what John Salmons just did. There was a proposed trade being setup between the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers. However, Salmons decided he did not want any part of it. According to his agent, Joel Bell, “Upon reviewing the basketball situation in Toronto, John decided it’s not the best fit for him.”

Yao Ming says his foot is progressing just fine. Back in April, the huge import from China underwent surgery to fix his broken foot. Recently Yao was in his hometown, Shanghai, making a special appearance. The 2007 Special Olympics are going to be held in Shanghai. When asked about his foot, Yao said, “As to my injury, I don’t’ have any major concerns. Everything’s going really smoothly. Do I look like a guy with a foot injury?”

The NY Nets just can’t catch a break. Their rookie forward, Josh Boone, underwent shoulder surgery yesterday. Boone was a first round selecting in this year’s NBA draft. Over the summer he complained of discomfort. It turns out that he had a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The surgery is being described as successful.

According to Billy King, 76ers president & GM, the rumor that had Allen Iverson going to the Denver Nuggets is false. However, let’s back up just a moment here. Iverson going to the Nuggets makes a lot of sense. The “rumor” said that the big boys in 76ers management vetoed the deal. Apparently the 76ers would get Kenyon Martin in return for Iverson.

There’s supposed to be a press conference in about 3 hours, so it’s just speculation right now. However, the sources are extremely reliable.

Ok Cleveland Cavalier fans, you can breathe now. It’s finally over. LeBron James agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers and that whole silence ordeal is now over. The smart forward turned down a five year deal with Cleveland initially. He decided on a three year deal with the team. The issue was not money—Cleveland was offering the maximum allowed by the NBA is both instances.

The Boston Celtics and Paul Pierce have agreed on a deal to keep the forward in Boston for a little longer. The contract extension is estimated to be in the range of $60 million for three years. Before the deal, Pierce’s contract was due to run out in the 2007-2008 season. He will be making $16 million for next year so this new contract would be a healthy upgrade.

Ben Wallace has made the deal to Chicago official by signing the contract. This will be a huge loss for Detroit. Chicago is licking their chops and waiting for next season. Wallace stands at 6 feet 9 inches. He is a defensive menace. If Chicago does indeed improve their defense, they stand a shot at going further in the playoffs in 2007.

It looks like the Indiana Pacers and the Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a deal. It’s not a blockbuster, but both teams feel it will help make their benches better. The deal can not be officially done until next week (Wednesday). The Indiana Pacers are going to receive Marquis Daniels from the Mavericks. In return, the Mavericks will be receiving Austin Coshere.

The first round pick this year for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Randy Foye, is all locked up. The guard from Villanova, who was picked seventh overall, and the Wolves agreed on a deal. Foye was technically a selection in the Portland Trail Blazers spot, but he was quickly dealt in a deal with Minnesota. The T-Wolves hope he can bring energy and talent to the team.

With the writing on the wall, the Detroit Pistons are moving forward to life without Ben Wallace. Ben Wallace is expected to sign a four-year deal with Chicago Bulls next week—when signing can be officially completed. According to the Associated Press, free-agent center Nazr Mohammed has agreed to a deal with the Detroit Pistons. The deal is for five-years with the last year being an option. Nazr Mohammed would make about $5,000,000 next season.

While no free agent in the NBA can officially sign a contract until July 12, all signs point to Ben Wallace leaving Detroit. The Detroit Pistons worked hard to keep Wallace in the Motor City, but it looks like they fell short. The Pistons offered a four-year contract worth $50 million. However, Ben Wallace wants to leave for greener pastures. Evidently he believes that the Chicago Bulls are about to go on a run.

The Miami Heat are wasting no time. They want to lock up Dwyane Wade and now. Technically, Wade has more time left on his contract, but the Heat was to get the contract situation out of the way. They have offered Dwyane Wade the maximum contract allowed under NBA rules. The five year deal would be worth about $80 million. This is the same deal that Carmelo Anthony just signed with Denver.

Vladimir Radmonovic is an unrestricted free agent. Last season he was traded to the Clippers, from Seattle, and had a good year. The Clippers want to resign Vladimir, but he has other plans. According to reports, he is interested in playing for the Los Angeles Lakers instead. It looks like the feeling is mutual and on July 12th, he could be signing with the Lakers. He would be playing in the same city and at the same arena.

The New Orleans Hornets wasted no time to get their man. On Saturday, All Star Peja Stojakovic and the Hornets agreed on a deal. Stojakovic decided he did not want to play in Indiana anymore and went into the free agent market. The deal with the Hornets, according to agent David Bauman, is for five years and worth about $64 million.

The Denver Nuggets and Nene have agreed to a six-year, $60 million deal. The deal went down on Sunday. At the time, Nene was on his honeymoon in Brazil—his homeland. The deal was brokered by his agent, Dan Fegan. Apparently, power forward Nene was more than excited with the news. Fegan said, “Ecstatic couldn’t be too strong a word.”
